Advocacy at the State Level

We encourage you to reach out to your local, state, and federal leaders. Your stories are extremely impactful and important. But we know this process can be intimidating. Remember, your lawmakers are just people like you.   Below are some tools for when you make a call or email to a legislator.

Phone Call talking points:

• Introduce yourself and whether you are a constituent or not.
• Why you are calling (ex: need for more counselors, SEL in schools)
• Explain why this affects you or your students or your children (Because I have such a high ratio…)
• Tell a personal story!
• Thank you for your time

Voicemail Talking Points:

Hello (insert name), name is __________. I live in ____________ and I am one of your constituents. I am calling to ask you to vote _________ on Bill ____________ because________________________. Thank you for your time.
