Member Benefits

Why Join AzSCA?

Your membership dues help fund activities and resources that advance not only your own careers as school counselors, but the school counseling profession as a whole in the state of Arizona.

From advocacy to professional development, AzSCA is constantly working to provide Arizona's school counselors with the support they need to be effective in their roles.

Here are a few of the many benefits of being an AzSCA member:

Advocacy: AzSCA is your voice at the Arizona Capitol, providing Arizona school counselors with representation in the legislative process through a professional lobbyist. We also help you advocate for yourself, your colleagues, and your students at the school or district level, including pairing you with an advocacy coach.

Connection: We are your liaison with the Arizona State Department of Education, the Arizona Education Association, and other statewide organizations. Additionally, your participation in AzSCA gives you access to a network of other school counselors in Arizona.

Conference: Every year, we hold an annual conference, two days filled with evidence-based programming, advocacy tips, and more to keep you informed on up-to-date on the best practices for school counselors.

Credibility: Being a member of AzSCA demonstrates your commitment to your profession, and a desire to stay up-to-date on the latest developments in the school counseling field.

Leadership: The AzSCA Board of Directors is voted on by our members, so you help determine the direction our organization takes. Additionally, we are always looking for members to serve on our Board-at-Large, active and retired school counselors who serve on committees focused on advocacy, communications, the annual conference, outreach, professional development, and research.

Mentorship: AzSCA supports new school counselors or current counselors moving to a different grade level of service through our Mentor Program, which includes shadowing opportunities, monthly phone calls, and a “Welcome to School Counseling” survivor kit!

Professional Development: Throughout the year, AzSCA offers workshops, seminars/webinars, and other resources to help members continually grow and develop in their profession.

Recognition: Each year at our annual conference, AzSCA honors outstanding school counselors with the School Counselor of the Year, Rising Star, and Advocate of the Year awards.

Research: AzSCA’s Research Committee shares current research and promotes new research by Arizona school counselors and the use of data to inform and demonstrate the effectiveness of programs.

Scholarships: If you are an AzSCA member, your students are eligible to apply for one of our three $2,000 non-renewable scholarships to assist with their post-secondary education costs. Additionally, student members of AzSCA can apply for a $2,000 scholarship towards a masters degree in school counseling.
