What is AzSCA’s Mission?
The Arizona School Counselors Association Inc., supports school counselors through professional development, resources, and advocacy at the state and national level. We empower school counselors to lead systemic change by delivering to each student a comprehensive school counseling program, aligned with the ASCA National Model and state standards for academic, social/emotional and career development.
What does a member of the Board of Directors do exactly?
The nine-member Board of Directors represents the diverse needs and perspectives of all Arizona school counselors. They oversee our Ends Policies and ensure that our organization is fiscally responsible and stays focused on our Strategic Plan. The Board of Directors oversees our paid positions and committee work. What is the time commitment?
This is a three-year commitment. Our board generally meets five times a year either in person or virtually. This includes our Leadership Development Institute in the summer and our meeting at the annual AzSCA Conference in February.
Who is eligible to run for a position?
Any AzSCA and ASCA member in good standing who is a Licensed School Counselor, active, inactive or retired in the state of Arizona. Up to one Board of Director position may be filled by a post-secondary representative who may or may not be a Licensed School Counselor.
What qualities are you looking for in a Director?
